IGNOU Admission 2025-26: Admission are open at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for distance and online courses. IGNOU admission process has started for the upcoming January 2025 academic session. This open university offers online and distance education courses. IGNOU application process will be conducted online. Students can visit the admission portal @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in and pay the IGNOU application fee of Rs. 300. Students has the facility to track the IGNOU admission 2025-26 status online.
Students can choose IGNOU degree courses at undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) level. These courses are 2 to 4 year higher education programs. Distance education is also available in Diploma and Certificate courses. These short term courses last only for 6 months to 1 year. IGNOU Diploma and Certificate courses are fast learning options for students. IGNOU admission 2025-26 last date is – 31st January 2025*.
Important Update
- It is now necessary to make a DEB ID (Distance Education Bureau) for IGNOU admission 2025-26. To make this ID, students must register on the DEB portal @deb.ugc.ac.in/StudentDEBId. This ID helps IGNOU track the students distance education history and maintain their records. To make a DEB ID students must register on the portal with their ABC ID.
- To make this ID students must have an ABC ID (Academic Bank of Credits). To make this ID, students can use their DigiLocker, UMANG Portal, or ABC Portal. Students must register with their mobile and email ID in any one of these platforms. This will create their ABC ID after which they can register for a DEB ID online.
IGNOU Admission 2025-26 January Session
IGNOU admission process is live for January 2025 academic year. Students from all over India can apply online on the IGNOU admission portal. IGNOU offers a wide range of programs like BSc, BBA, BCom, MCom, MBA, etc. To get admission in the online distance learning (ODL) courses, students must register for the IGNOU ODL application process. IGNOU admission 2025-26 date has been released. Apply before 31st January 2025.
Application steps are easy to follow, students need to apply, upload their documents, and pay the application fee. IGNOU admissions are merit based for most of the UG and PG courses. IGNOU does not conduct an entrance test for admissions to BA, BSc, BCA, BBA, BLIS, MA, MSc, MCom, MBA, MLIS, MSW, etc.
IGNOU Admission Eligibility Criteria
IGNOU courses are made to make education available to all. The eligibility criteria for IGNOU is easy to meet. There is no maximum age limit for IGNOU courses.
For UG courses a 12th pass certificate is needed. Specific science subjects are required for BSc degree only. The minimum marks for IGNOU UG courses is 45%.
PG courses at IGNOU require a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks. Specific science subjects for MSc and related degrees are needed for courses like Botany, Physics, Mathematics, etc.
Most of the IGNOU Diploma and certificate courses require a 12th class certificate. There are no minimum percentage requirements for Diploma courses. However, IGNOU also offers Diploma courses that require a bachelor’s degree.

IGNOU Admission Process 2025-26
Step 1: Go to the IGNOU admission portal at @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
Step 2: Register as a new user on the portal.
Step 3: Log in and open the IGNOU application form.
Step 4: In the application form fill in all the details like your name, age, education, etc.
Step 5: Choose the subject you are applying for.
Step 6: Upload your documents online on the portal.
Step 7: Pay the application fee of Rs. 300.
Step 8: Submit the IGNOU application form.
Step 9: Keep your IGNOU enrollment number for future reference.
Documents for IGNOU Admission
According to the prospectus for IGNOU admission 2024-25 following documents must be uploaded online during the admission process –
- Candidate’s Colored Passport Size Photograph
- Candidate’s signature.
- 10th Mark sheet
- 12th Mark sheet (if the course needs it)
- Bachelor’s degree (depends on the eligibility of the IGNOU course)
- Master’s degree (If applying for Regular PhD admission)

Fee Refund at IGNOU

IGNOU Admission Login 2025-26
Students can login on the admission portal of IGNOU and keep track of their admission status. This login portal saves the information provided by students for the admission process. IGNOU admission form can be filled in stages. Students can use this admission login to save their application form at every stage. IGNOU PG Courses Admission
Postgraduate courses at IGNOU will accept applications in January 2025. Higher education degrees in MA, MSc, MCom, MSW, MLIS, MEd, etc are available for students. The duration of these courses is between 1 to 2 years. Average IGNOU PG course fees range between Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 31,000 per year. IGNOU PG admissions will be conducted online. IGNOU MBA Admission 2025-26
IGNOU offer Master of Business administration in 5 specialization. Students can choose specialization like Finance, Marketing, HRM, Banking and Finance, and Operation. IGNOU MBA admission 2025-26 last date is 31st January 2025. To apply student must visit the ODL application portal @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. Application fee for IGNOU MBA is Rs. 300/-.
Students study a variety of management subject at IGNOU like marketing, operations, employee psychology, data analytics for businesses etc. IGNOU takes help of learning support centers to provide practical knowledge and teacher interaction. Students can visit IGNOU regional and study centers for practicals and contact classes. This program also offers assignments and projects after IGNOU admission 2025-26.
IGNOU UG Courses Admission
IGNOU UG admission process is live on the admission portal. IGNOU offers courses in various subjects like science, languages, arts, social work, and commerce. These subjects are taught through IGNOU courses like BA, BCom, BBA, BSc, BSW, BLIS, BEd. These bachelor’s degrees last between 2 to 3 years. IGNOU UG degrees are valid for jobs and higher studies. Students with a 12th class certificate can apply for IGNOU admissions. Average fee range is between Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 15,000 per year. IGNOU admission 2025-26 last date is 31st January 2025.
IGNOU BEd Admission 2025-26
Bachelor of Education is a 2 year course at IGNOU. It is one of the few courses of IGNOU which need an entrance exam for admission. IGNOU BEd entrance exam will be conducted soon for IGNOU BEd admission 2025-26. This course is open for trained teacher with a bachelor’s degree. Students with NCTE training face-to-face can also apply for IGNOU admission 2025-26.
Students can apply for IGNOU ODL admission @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. BEd course fee is Rs. 55,000/- for the entire course. Applications will be accepted after the payment of IGNOU BEd application fee of Rs. 1,000/-.
IGNOU Diploma Courses Admission
IGNOU has a range of short term diploma courses. Diploma programs are 1 to 2 years courses. Applications are accepted on the IGNOU admission portal @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. These courses provide intermediate level knowledge in the subject. Diploma courses at IGNOU are focused on building professional skills. Students with jobs can benefit especially from these programs. Most diploma courses need just a 12th class qualification. The average fee ranges between Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 30,000.
IGNOU Certificate Courses Admission
Certificate courses at IGNOU provide introductory or basic knowledge in a subject. These are 6 to 12 months courses. Students can apply to IGNOU certificate courses on the admission portal. The average fee range for these courses is between Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 18,000.
IGNOU Admission Status
The admission process normally takes 3 to 4 weeks to complete. IGNOU maintains a transparent and open admission process. For the January 2025 session IGNOU has open its re-registration portal. Old students at IGNOU who have enrolled at any degree or diploma course need to re-register themselves to continue their course. IGNOU re-registration 2025-26 is open till 31st January 2025. To apply for IGNOU re-registration January session:

Step 2: Read the instruction given on the page.
Step 3: Click on “I agree” on the bottom of the page.
Step 4: Create an account by clicking “New registration“.
Step 5: Log in to the IGNOU re registration 2025 portal with the new account.
Step 6: Fill in the course and admission details like enrollment number, course ID, etc.
Step 7: Upload the documents as required.
Step 8: Pay the IGNOU re registration fee of Rs. 200/-.
Step 9: Submit the IGNOU re registration form 2025.
IGNOU Admission 2025-26 Scholarship
Scholarships are given by government of India to students from various categories. Tribal students, SC students, and EWS students. Eligible students can apply via the national scholarship web portals online. @scholarships.gov.in IGNOU admission scholarships for UG students and PG students are available on the national scholarship web portal.
Similarly, Jail students are given exemption from IGNOU course fee for IGNOU admission 2025. Jail inmates who are pursuing IGNOU courses that do not have practical, workshops, or seminars are exempted from paying the fee for their IGNOU course.
Vidya Lakshmi Portal
To help students secure financing for their distance and online education, IGNOU has set up the Vidya Lakshmi Portal. Through this portal students will be able to get easy loan applications and preferences. IGNOU has collaborated with industry leaders to help students make loan applications online and secure a funding for their education.
Students can visit the portal @vidyalakshmi.co.in/Students. IGNOU allows students to register on the portal for free. They can edit their loan applications and also apply for different scholarships schemes available.
