IGNOU Post Basic Nursing Admission 2025-26: IGNOU will soon open the admission to Post Basic Nursing program. This is a 3-year UG level BSc course. IGNOU post basic nursing admission 2025 last date is 31st January, 2025*. Applicants must be a registered nurse with at least 2 years of experience. IGNOU Post Basic Nursing eligibility criteria requires a 3-year diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM). To apply students must go to @ignounursing.samarth.edu.in.

Application fee for IGNOU Post Basic Nursing is Rs. 1,000/-. IGNOU Post Basic BSc Nursing course fees is INR 23,000/- per annum. An entrance examination will be conducted by IGNOU to form the final merit list for IGNOU Post Basic Nursing admission 2025-26. This course also contains practical subjects that will be delivered at the IGNOU study centres. IGNOU Post Basic Nursing BSc Admission 2025-26 Details

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers courses in various domains. With Post Basic Nursing BSc admission 2025 it aims to provide professional degrees to working nurses. This course was made to fill up the educational gap that nurses in India experience due to several reasons like shortage of BSc Nursing Universities, lack of financial support, and time etc. IGNOU admission process will soon start for Post Basic Nursing 2025.

IGNOU tries to help students by providing them with an affordable distance education solution for a UG degree in Nursing. Covering subjects like Applied Sciences, Paediatric Nursing, Nursing Education and Research etc. IGNOU Post Basic Nursing BSc distance education has no maximum age group.

Eligibility criteria for this course needs a 12th qualification and a 3-year diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM). IGNOU applicants with 10th qualification can also apply after showing 5 years of experience as a registered nurse. 3 years experience is required for 12th pass candidates.

IGNOU will take help from its online facilities like E-Gyankosh to provide syllabus and learning materials. Practical classes after IGNOU Post Basic Nursing admission 2025-26 are carried out in the IGNOU programme study centres. Students can also use the study centres to submit the IGNOU assignments.

IGNOU Post Basic BSc Nursing Eligibility Criteria

IGNOU Post Basic Nursing admission 2025-26 is allowed for registered nurses and registered midwives (RNRM). A diploma in GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) after 10th or 12th class is necessary. 

RNRM students can apply with GNM Diploma after passing 10th class. These students must have 5 years of experience

Students with a 12th pass certificate and a GNM diploma can apply after 3 years of experience. Male candidates who have not completed midwifery in GNM can apply after doing a certificate course suggested by Indian Nursing Council.

IGNOU Post Basic BSc Nursing Fees

There are various fees that students must pay for this IGNOU program. Course fee for IGNOU Post Basic BSc Nursing is Rs. 23,000/- per year. The total 3 years fee for this UG course becomes Rs. 69,000/-. This fee is accepted only through demand draft in favour of IGNOU.

Students must also pay an IGNOU Post Basic BSc Nursing application form fee of Rs. 1,000/-. Additionally, students must also pay a fee of Rs. 200/- as the University Development fee. This fee can be paid during the IGNOU Post Basic Nursing admission 2025-26. 

To appear for the IGNOU term end examination (TEE) students must pay an exam form fee of Rs. 200/- per theory subjects and Rs. 300/- to Rs. 500/- depending on the course. Similarly, project fee is also Rs. 300/- to Rs. 500/-.

IGNOU Post Basic Nursing Entrance Exam

Admissions to IGNOU Post Basic Nursing will be made based on the marks obtained in IGNOU OPENNET entrance test. This is a 2 and a half hour multiple choice question paper. OPENNET contains 120 questions that are based on the subjects taught in GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery). Schedule for this exam will be released on the official website of IGNOU @ignou.ac.in

It is compulsory for students to appear for the OPENNET entrance exam. Without appearing in this entrance exam students will not be eligible for IGNOU Post Basic Nursing admission 2025-26. Students will find IGNOU Post Basic BSc Nursing application form 2024 online soon.

IGNOU Post Basic Nursing Admission Process

Step 1: Go to the official IGNOU nursing portal. @ignounursing.samarth.edu.in

Step 2: Register on the admission portal. Click on “Register Now”.

Step 3: A new account will be created. Log in to the admission portal with the created account.

Step 4: Fill the application form with the asked details. Fill in accurate information. This form will register the student for the IGNOU entrance test.

Step 5: Upload the required documents. This will ensure the given information is cross checked.

Step 6: Submit the application form and save the acknowledgement page.

Step 7: Now wait for the entrance examination admit card release.

  3. Marksheets of school 12th, 10th (whichever is available)

Counselling IGNOU Post Basic Nursing

Results for the entrance examination will be released on the IGNOU website @ignou.ac.in. The concerned regional centre will communicate the next steps. Official website of each IGNOU regional centre will release the IGNOU Post Basic BSc nursing merit list. It will be formed on the basis of marks of OPENNET. This merit list will be region wise. Every regional centre will have its own merit list. Accordingly the seats will be filled in the IGNOU Regional centres.

During the IGNOU Post Basic Nursing admission 2025-26 counselling, students will need to submit a self attested copy of their documents for verification.

Note – Once selected for admission, students will not be allowed to change their Program study centre for IGNOU Post nursing basic.

IGNOU uses marks in the entrance examination to form the merit list. In case students obtained same marks, they will be sorted with the following criteria –

  1. Length of relevant experience – Those with more experience will be ranked higher, in case the OPENNET marks are the same.
  2. Overall marks obtained in GNM Diploma
  3. Date of Birth – If the above criteria cannot sort students then older students will be ranked higher.
  4. Draw a lot – In case all the above criteria cannot sort the students, they will be selected at random.
