IGNOU Admission 2025-26: Admission is open at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for distance and online courses. This open university offers online, regular, and distance education courses. IGNOU application process will be conducted online and offline. Students can complete the online admission process by using the log in of the IGNOU admission portal ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in and pay the IGNOU application fee of Rs.300. They must have a DEB ID to apply for 2025 IGNOU admissions.

Students can choose IGNOU degree courses at the undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) levels. These courses are 2 to 4-year higher education programs. Distance education is also available in Diploma and Certificate courses. These short-term courses last only for 6 months to 1 year. Important Update

  • It is now necessary to make a DEB ID (Distance Education Bureau) for IGNOU admission 2025-26. To make this ID, students must register on the DEB portal deb.ugc.ac.in/StudentDEBId. This ID helps IGNOU track the student’s distance education history and maintain their records. To make a DEB ID students must register on the portal with their ABC ID.
  • Students must have an ABC ID (Academic Bank of Credits) to create this ID. To create this ID, students can use their DigiLockerUMANG Portal, or ABC Portal. Students must register with their mobile and email ID on any one of these platforms. This will create their ABC ID, after which they can register for a DEB ID online.

IGNOU Admission 2025-26 January Session

IGNOU admission process is conducted twice in a year. Students get admission opportunities in July and January. Students from all over India can apply online on the IGNOU admission portal. IGNOU offers a wide range of programs like BSc, BBA, BCom, MCom, MBA, etc. To get admission to the online distance learning (ODL) courses, students must register for the IGNOU ODL application process.  IGNOU admission date has been released. Apply before 15 February 2025.

Application steps are easy to follow, students need to apply, upload their documents, and pay the application fee. IGNOU admissions are merit based for most of the UG and PG courses. Admission to some professional courses at IGNOU is based on IGNOU entrance exams.

To keep the admission process transparent IGNOU has given many resources to students. During the admission process, students can check the admission status online using IGNOU portals. Similarly, students who are not comfortable with the online admission process can use the offline admission process at IGNOU regional center.

How to Make DEB ID

Students now must have a Distance Education Bureau (DEB) ID. IGNOU monitors the education record and history of students using the DEB ID. It is mandatory for IGNOU admission 2025-26. Students can make their ID on the official DEB website @deb.ugc.ac.in/StudentDEBId.

DEB ID Step by Step Process

To make the DEB ID, an Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) ID is needed.

Step 1: Go to the DEB website @deb.ugc.ac.in/StudentDEBId.

Step 2: Dialogue box for DEB ID generation is available on the website.

Step 3: Students with an ABC ID can enter their ABC ID on that dialogue box. DEB ID will be generated.

Step 4: For students without an ABC ID, digilocker can be used to create their ABC ID.

Step 5: After creating the ABC ID students can return to the DEB portal to register for creating the DEB ID.

IGNOU Admission 2025 Eligibility Criteria

IGNOU courses are made to make education available to all. The eligibility criteria for IGNOU is easy to meet. There is no maximum age limit for IGNOU courses.

For UG courses a 12th pass certificate is needed. Specific science subjects are required for a BSc degree only. The minimum mark for IGNOU UG courses is 45%

PG courses at IGNOU require a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks. Specific science subjects for MSc and related degrees are needed for courses like Botany, Physics, Mathematics, etc.

Most of the IGNOU Diploma and certificate courses require a 12th-class certificate. There are no minimum percentage requirements for Diploma courses. However, IGNOU also offers Diploma courses that require a bachelor’s degree.

Step 1: Go to the IGNOU admission portal at @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.

Step 2: Register as a new user on the portal.

Step 3: Log in and open the IGNOU application form.

Step 4: Complete the application form with all the details, such as your name, age, and education.

IGNOU Offline Admission Process 2025-26

Step 1: Students must visit the IGNOU regional center to start the offline admission process.

Step 2: At the regional center ask for the “Student Service Cell“. Regional centers have this cell to assist students with offline services.

Step 3: Call for an IGNOU representative.

Step 4: Ask for the IGNOU admission form for the 2025-26 session.

Step 5: Start filling up the admission form for IGNOU course.

Step 6: Enter personal details like name, address, and other information asked for.

Postgraduate courses at IGNOU will accept applications in January 2025. Higher education degrees in MA, MSc, MCom, MSW, MLIS, MEd, etc are available for students. The duration of these courses is between 1 to 2 years. Average IGNOU PG course fees range between Rs.10,000 to Rs.31,000 per year. IGNOU PG admissions will be conducted online. IGNOU MBA Admission 2025-26

IGNOU offers a Master of Business Administration in 5 specializations. Students can choose specializations like Finance, Marketing, HRM, Banking and Finance, and Operations. IGNOU MBA admission 2025-26 last date is 31st January 2025. To apply students must visit the ODL application portal @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. Application fee for IGNOU MBA is Rs. 300/-.

IGNOU UG Courses Admission

IGNOU UG admission process is live on the admission portal. IGNOU offers courses in various subjects like science, languages, arts, social work, and commerce. These subjects are taught through IGNOU courses like BA, BCom, BBA, BSc, BSW, BLIS, and BEd. These bachelor’s degrees last between 2 to 3 years. IGNOU Admission 2025-26 list for UG courses is available on the official IGNOU website @ignou.ac.in.

IGNOU UG degrees are valid for jobs and higher studies. Students with a 12th class certificate can apply for IGNOU admissions. Average fee range is between Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 15,000 per year.

IGNOU BEd Admission 2025-26

Bachelor of Education is a 2-year course at IGNOU. It is one of the few courses of IGNOU that need an entrance exam for admission. IGNOU BEd entrance exam will be conducted soon for IGNOU BEd admission 2025-26. This course is open for trained teachers with a bachelor’s degree. Students with NCTE training face-to-face can also apply for IGNOU BEd admission.

Students can apply for IGNOU ODL admission @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. BEd course fee is Rs.55,000/- for the entire course. Applications will be accepted after the payment of IGNOU BEd application fee of Rs.1,000/-.

IGNOU Diploma Courses Admission

IGNOU has a range of short-term diploma courses. Diploma programs are 1 to 2 years courses. Applications are accepted on the IGNOU admission portal @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. These courses provide intermediate-level knowledge in the subject. Diploma courses at IGNOU are focused on building professional skills. Students with jobs can benefit especially from these programs. Most diploma courses need just a 12th-class qualification. The average fee ranges between Rs.7,000 to Rs.30,000.

IGNOU Certificate Courses Admission

Certificate courses at IGNOU provide introductory or basic knowledge in a subject. These are 6 to 12 months courses. Students can apply to IGNOU certificate courses on the admission portal. The average fee range for these courses is between Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 18,000.

IGNOU Fee Refund Policy

Applicants are allowed to apply for cancellation of IGNOU admission. Students will be given their fees back based on the status of their admission application. Students who have applied for a fee refund can see the below table for fee refund details –

IGNOU Admission 2025-26 Scholarship

Scholarships are given by the government of India to students from various categories. Tribal students, SC students, and EWS students. Eligible students can apply via the national scholarship web portals online @scholarships.gov.in. IGNOU admission scholarships for UG students and PG students are available on the national scholarship web portal.

Similarly, Jail students are given an exemption from IGNOU course fees for IGNOU admission 2025. Jail inmates who are pursuing IGNOU courses that do not have practical, workshops, or seminars are exempted from paying the fee for their IGNOU course.
