IGNOU Law Courses 2025-26: With the start of year 2025, IGNOU has opened its admission portals. Among the listed courses for the January 2025 session, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers diploma and certificate courses in law. These courses are offered as distance and online courses. Students can apply for IGNOU law courses 2025-26 correspondence mode through the online portal @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
The admission last date for law courses at this university is around 31st January 2025. IGNOU applications will be opened for 10th and 12th pass candidates. Students must complete their application process before this date. Applicants will need to fill an online form and pay the application fee online of Rs. 300. Does IGNOU offer Law Courses?
Although IGNOU offers certificate and diploma Law courses, UG and PG courses in law are not offered at IGNOU. Law courses at bachelor’s and master’s level are not allowed by the University Grant Commission (UGC) to be granted in distance mode. IGNOU follows the guidelines of UGC as these courses require practical classes and daily face-to-face interaction. That is necessary for students to know the depth of Law theory and practice.
However, students will find multiple certificate and diploma courses at IGNOU. These distance courses cover various fields of law theory and practice. Students will find subjects in environmental law, business law, corporate law, and cyber law. These IGNOU certificate and diploma courses are open for 10th to 12th class pass students. The online applications will be opened till 31st January 2025*.
LLB From IGNOU?
Bachelor of Legislative Law or LLB is a 3 year bachelor degree. IGNOU does not offer an LLB degree. This degree is a highly practical focused program. Students who appear for an LLB go through extensive mock cases and hearing to polish their law and advocacy skills. IGNOU is an open university. Its infrastructure is supportive for distance and online courses only. Due to these constraints IGNOU does not provide LLB degree as a UG program in their courses. Students however can apply for various online certificate and diploma level law courses.
IGNOU Law Admissions 2025-26
At the start of the January 2025 session, students will be able to apply for IGNOU Law course admissions. Students who want to enroll in the IGNOU law certificate and diploma courses can apply. The admission process for these law courses is online. Students will be provided an admission portal to start the admission process on the official IGNOU website @ignou.ac.in.
The application process must be completed before 31st January 2025. It contains easy-to-follow steps with registration, document upload, and application fee submission. IGNOU Law Course Eligibility 2025-26
Students can apply to the law courses at IGNOU in the new January 2025 session. They need their educational documents to apply. These courses are offered at 4 levels,

Certificate courses at IGNOU need a 12th pass candidate. Most of the courses do not require a minimum passing mark. They are open to all students, in all age groups.
Postgraduate Certificate courses need a bachelor’s degree. However, students don’t need a minimum passing mark.
The Diploma IGNOU law courses 2025-26 need a bachelor’s degree. Most of the courses accept candidates at passing marks, while some need a specific degree. Meeting these requirements, students can apply for IGNOU Law admission.
Similarly Postgraduate Diploma courses are also open for bachelor’s degree holders. Like all other level courses, IGNOU postgraduate diploma courses also do not have a minimum mark criteria.

IGNOU Law Courses Fee
IGNOU admission process will start for 2025 session. The admission process will open for the next session’s IGNOU law courses. These diploma and certificate courses are granted with an affordable fee structure. Students will have to pay an fee between Rs. 2000 to Rs. 10,000. Required fee for different level of courses is given below:-
- IGNOU Law Post Graduate Diploma – Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 10,800/-.
- IGNOU Law Diploma in Paralegal Practice (DIPP) – Rs. 8,400/-.
