IGNOU PhD Admission 2025-26: Admission process for IGNOU PhD courses will start in January 2025. New session for admission is about to start at IGNOU. Students will see the release of the IGNOU admission form online on the official website @ignou.ac.in. Those applicants who satisfies the admission criteria can apply till 31st January 2025*. The eligibility criteria for IGNOU PhD admission is a master’s degree. An M.Phil degree is also accepted for PhD admission at IGNOU. Students will have to appear for an entrance exam for PhD admission.
IGNOU accepts admission forms and documents submission online. To apply students have to pay an application fee of Rs. 1,000. This amount can be paid on the official PhD admission portal on @ignouadm.samarth.edu.in/phd. IGNOU is an open university, at the same time it is also a central university. This makes IGNOU courses very cost effective. The average PhD course fee at this university is between Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 22,000 per year.

IGNOU PhD Admission 2025-26
IGNOU admission for January 2025 session is about to start. Eligible candidates from all over India are invited to apply. IGNOU application process is online. To apply for the January 2025 session, students must visit the official PhD portal of IGNOU. Application fee is decided at Rs. 1000. IGNOU PhD Admission 2025-26 are entrance exam based. Students must secure at least 50% marks in the entrance exam to be selected for the personal interview.
In the personal interview students are required to show a presentation about their course objective. Personal interview carries a 30% weightage in the final selection. After the final selection IGNOU will contact the student via mail and post. At the end, students must submit the course fee. For IGNOU PhD the course fee varies between Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 22,000.
IGNOU PhD Eligibility Criteria

IGNOU PhD Entrance Examination 2025
IGNOU conducts a nationwide entrance exam for its PhD admissions. IGNOU PhD admission 2025-26 will strictly be accepted after the entrance examination. This examination is conducted in various test centers selected by IGNOU. Entrance test carries a 70% weightage in the admission process. The schedule for the entrance exam will be released on the official website @ignou.ac.in.
To appear for the entrance test students will need an admit card. This will be published near the test date. Students are advised to keep visiting the IGNOU website for new notifications. To apply for the entrance exam students must visit the admission portal before 31st January 2025.
IGNOU PhD Application Process
Step 1: Visit the IGNOU PhD admission portal. This portal is especially used for PhD admission only.
Step 2: First time applicants should register with their name and email address to register themselves on the admission portal. This will create their id through which they can access IGNOU student login ID.
Step 3: Applicants should confirm their account by clicking on the confirmation mail sent to their inbox.
Step 4: Log in to complete IGNOU PhD admission 2025-26.
Step 5: Fill in the IGNOU PhD application form. The form asks for academic history and personal details.
Step 6: Upload the required documents for PhD admissions. The needed documents include; previous education certificates, aadhaar card, photographs, etc.
Step 7: Pay the application fee of Rs. 1,000. This is a non refundable one time payment that has to be paid. This amount serves as the processing fee for PhD application.
Step 8: Submit the application form.

IGNOU registration for PhD is completed on the online PhD portal. This portal is a special portal which deals with PhD admission only. To apply for the IGNOU PhD entrance exam and admission process this portal will be used. This webpage contains a IGNOU student login window. This window takes students to the application form. IGNOU PhD Fee Structure
PhD level courses at IGNOU are affordable as compared to other universities. IGNOU PhD fee structure is divided into courses at IGNOU is between Rs 15,000 per year to Rs 22,000 per year. This fee depends on the course selected. For example PhD Hindi fee is 16,500 per year and PhD English fee is Rs 17,700 per year.
Application fee for IGNOU PHd course is Rs. 1000/-. Fees can be paid online or with demand draft. To pay the fee with demand draft, students should have the demand draft addressed to IGNOU. It should be payable to the same city as the regional center of students.
IGNOU Part Time PHd
Part time option for PHd course at IGNOU is available for working students. These students have to submit a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) at the time of IGNOU admission. This NOC form must contain the name and seal of the employer or organization that they are working in. This way students get the option to carry on earning while also completing their doctorate education.
