IGNOU MLIS Admission 2025-26: IGNOU MLIS admissions has started for January 2025. New session admission begins at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). IGNOU offers a 1 year MLIS program to eligible students. Eligibility criteria for IGNOU MLIS admission 2025-26 is a bachelor’s in library science or equivalent degree. 

To apply for this course an application fee of Rs. 300/- must be paid. IGNOU MLIS has a course fee of Rs. 11,500/-. Students can apply online on the distance learning admission portal. Student study library management and information documentation at a professional level. Students can apply till – 31st January 2025.

All about IGNOU MLIS Admission 2025-26

Master of Library and Information Science is a one year master’s program. IGNOU is accepting admission to this course in the 2025 session. Students are allowed to apply after completion of their bachelor’s degree. They can also apply after an associateship from NISCAIR or DRTC. These institutes give bachelor’s level associateship (degrees). 

IGNOU charges Rs. 11,500/- for this course. To apply for MLIS IGNOU admission, students must go to the IGNOU online admission portal. Students can apply for IGNOU librarian course till 31st January 2025.

Eligibility Criteria IGNOU MLIS Admission 2025-26

IGNOU accepts a Bachelor‘s Degree in Library or/and Information Science for 2025 session admission. Both distance and regular degrees are accepted for admission. Students can also apply with an Associateship. Associateship from NISCAIR or DRTC are accepted for IGNOU MLIS admission 2025-26.

IGNOU MLIS Fee Structure

Full course fee of MLIS is Rs. 11,500/-. This amount also serves as IGNOU MLIS admission fee that is payable during the MLIS application process. To pay the fee students can submit the amount during the admission process by logging to the admission portal.

Application fee for IGNOU MLIS is Rs. 300/-, it should be paid when student apply online for admission. During admission student will be asked to pay a University Development Fee of Rs. 200/-. This fee must be paid after the selection of the candidate. IGNOU MLIS Admissions 2025 are finalized after the payment of this fee.

IGNOU MLIS Application Process

Step 1: For MLIS admission visit the IGNOU admission portal.

Step 2: Register by clicking on “New Registration”. This is an important step to start the admission process. 

Step 3: Fill the registration form and make a new account.

Step 4: Use the new username to log in to IGNOU Admission portal 2025-26.

Step 5: Start filling the application form for IGNOU ODL courses. Enter the personal and academic details.

Step 6: Carefully select MLIS as the subject.

Step 7: Scan and upload documents like aadhar card and photographs.

Step 8: Pay IGNOU MLIS application fee of Rs. 300 through UPI, credit card, or debit card.

Step 9: Submit the IGNOU MLIS admission form.

IGNOU MLIS Course Details

Master in Library and Information Science, a professional degree which trains students for managing information centers and libraries around the country. IGNOU MLIS course offers a syllabus containing 8 core and 2 elective subjects. Students also get mandatory project work.

IGNOU MLIS Internship

IGNOU aims to develop practical skills for MLIS subjects. To test the theoretical MLIS knowledge in practical problems, students must join an internship. In the final grade card of IGNOU MLIS, the internship will carry 4 credit points. 

Students will learn to develop real world strategies through internship. They will form an understanding of how information centers and libraries are managed.

IGNOU Term End Examination (TEE)

IGNOU TEE is conducted at the end of every semester. They test the overall performance of a student in the MLIS course. IGNOU releases the notification for TEE on its official website @ignou.ac.in. An IGNOU exam form has to be filled online to be considered for TEE

TEE are organized in various test centers across the country. Before that student must make sure that they have completed all the IGNOU MLIS assignments and provided the exam form fee.

Step 2: On the home screen there is a search box. Students will find below the title of the page on the right side of the screen.

Step 3: In that search box, enter the subject code for MLIS subjects or enter “MLIS”.

Step 4: List of all the IGNOU study materials related to the search query will appear.

Step 5: Select the desired content link.

Step 6: Online PDF for the MLIS subject will open, download it in PDF format.

IGNOU has a wide collection of recorded classes. These are offered for free on E-gyankosh website @egyankosh.ac.in. Students can also find IGNOU video lectures on the YouTube channel of IGNOU.
